What the pair shows
Under cover, Study A is organised in layers: a red bed in front, then lawn, then purple banks, with steel columns and trusses repeating overhead. The eye is led into the distance.
Study B has no direction at all. The dahlias crowd the frame, and the eye moves from flower to flower rather than along a line. Placed together, the two show what a layout adds to a planting and what it takes away.
